On Friday, January 8th, the Kingsville FFA welding team competed in Robstown for the 13th Annual American Welding Society Mike Mylnar Welding Contest. The students competed in up-hill plate welding, pipe fitting, and took a written exam. Sergio Suazo, J. J. Lucio, and Saul Cerda competed in plate welding against nearly 80 individuals. Marcus Rodriguez and Jesus Rosales competed together in the pipe fitting competition and placed 3rd out of 23 pipe fitting teams. They received a large trophy as well as other awards for their hard work. Marcus and Jesus also competed in the exam portion of the contest, with Marcus placing 4th overall and receiving a gift card to Academy Sports and Outdoors.
