At the start of November, the Career Preparation students at H. M. King High School began working hard to complete EverFi. EverFi is an award-winning Financial Literacy technology platform used to teach students about financial situations in their adult life. The modules range from learning how to balance a budget to buying a house. First Community Bank has proudly sponsored the First Community Bank Financial Scholars Program for students all across South Texas.
On December 3rd, H. M. King hosted a certification ceremony to honor the students who completed the online curriculum in Mrs. Carrillo's Career Preparation class. A representative from First Community Bank and EverFi attended the ceremony and spoke with students about the importance of money.
With a certification in Financial Literacy, students are given an edge in the competition when applying for jobs. However, most importantly, the students gained knowledge that will benefit them for a lifetime in life and work.
