Many of us have known someone who has been affected by cancer in one way or another. Year after year, the Brahma football team has collected donations from Brahma players and has given money to a cancer organization. This year, with the input from all the athletes, money collected was donated to a fellow Brahma Athlete that is currently fighting leukemia. The recipient this year was Sidra Vela.
“Even though the recipient does not have breast cancer, we still believe that our donation is important to the cause of fighting cancer,” said H.M. King Athletic Director/ Head Football Coach, Teddy Carrier.
The H.M. King High School Football Players raised $1,100 for Sidra, and the Athletic Booster Club also gave a matched amount, totaling the donation to $2,200.
“Thank you to all who contributed towards this great cause,” said Carrier. “We hope that this will help you (Sidra) and your family in your fight against leukemia.”
The Kingsville Athletic Program would like to thank all who gave donations for our cancer initiative.
“Sidra, we want you to know that we love you and are behind you all the way. Keep fighting and know that your Kingsville Brahma Family is always with you,” said Carrier.
